This past Saturday was a busy one for me and the Tallboy.  We did some “remoting” … had some running around we had to do … a little getting ready for my trip this Thursday … and then it was time to have some fun!

For as big a baseball fan as I am, it’s shameful how few games I actually get to see.  I should be at the Wingnuts games all the time … but life has been a little crazy this season.  FINALLY on Saturday, we made it out to LD Stadium to GO NUTS!

And this game was super cool, because we got to hang with our Winfield peeps, the Osen boys!  I’ve been friends with Charles since the early 1990’s … and the last time I saw him or his sons was over 2 years ago … so, we were really jazzed to spend some time with them.  And those boys made out like BANDITS!

The evening started with a little tailgating in the NutLot!

Then we moved in to the Nuthouse … and proceeded to get rained on for an hour!  The game went on … Charles won a Quik Trip prize pack … the boys upgraded themselves to the best seats in the house … and then Brad decided to work some of his magic!

… and he got ALL of us upgraded to the field pass tent in left field!

Brad is the reason that good things happen!

So, we spent the rest of the night under the shelter of the tent, with the coolest view of the game, while the rest of the world got rained on.  Pretty cool!

Tallboy and Charles

Daelor and his girl!

Riley and his kazoo!

Brent kickin' back in the field pass tent!

Riley got a bunch of autographs on his baseball!

Avery managed to score a BAT!

Alicia shows off that winning smile!

We all stayed for fireworks after the game and had a great time …

Can’t wait for the next time we get to GO NUTS!

WOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo!

=)

Single Black FEMALE

This has to be one of the best singles ads ever printed.  It is reported that it was listed in the Atlanta Journal.

SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant.
I’m a very good girl who LOVES to play.  I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire.  Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand.  I’ll be at the front door when you get home from work; wearing only what nature gave me…  Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Annie, I’ll be waiting…...

I’m having a few camera problems … so, I haven’t been able to get to the pics I took at the Adam Lambert show last Friday … BUT, I do have the ONE picture that they let us take with Adam.

I had such a great time with Kurt and Kathy and Shane … and the show was terrific!  Adam Lambert puts on an over-the-top production that is super fun to watch!

That being said, I thought the meet-n-greet sucked.

Yes, we were in a hallway.  We were all rustled in like cattle.  We got to spend a total of about 20 seconds with Adam.  We were allowed ONE picture for our entire group … and that picture had to be taken by THIER people, then posted online where we could retrieve it several days later.

I am so sick and tired of these BS meet-n-greets!  Whatever happened to getting a few pictures and some CDs or pictures autographed?  Now they act as if they are “put upon” to have to meet fans.  Reminder, artists:  these are the fans that buy your music and purchase concert tickets.  How’s about a little enthusiasm to meet them and interact?

I don’t know if it’s the artists being divas, or if it’s the artist’s “people” who are trying to protect them from the riff-raff, but the last several times I have had celebrity meetings they have been rushed, very non-personal affairs.  Many of them say you can’t take ANY pictures at all.  They want to have complete and total control over any image that may be taken.

Thus, my one and only picture with Michael Buble, I am not standing anywhere near my Mom or my friends (who are also in the pic) … instead I have 2 people I don’t even know standing between me and Michael.  What a great memory.

I am not trying to be a spoiled brat here … I am way more disappointed for my guests and for people who win these meet-n-greet experiences from the buzz.  When our listeners get treated like cattle, it makes me look bad … and it makes me feel worse.  Someone who stayed up the entire night before a m-n-g, because they were too excited to sleep out of anticipation, deserves better.

Okay … my rant is done …

I hope to have the rest of the pics for you tomorrow, so check back … and have an awesome day!

I’m looking forward to a big show at the Cotillion tonight!

Adam Lambert, former American Idol contestant (a lot of people think he should have WON his season) is bringing the Glam Nation tour to Wichita.  I have a meet-n-greet that I get to bring some Buzz listeners to before the show … and I KNOW that my friend Kathy is really jazzed for it, so this should be fun!

Something that might put a damper on the fun – at least OUTSIDE the venue – is the fact that Fred Phelps and his merry band of idiots are going to be at the show protesting.  Yes, this group of ignorant religious zealots is bringing their campaign of hate to Wichita AGAIN.  Even though I know that they are just a bunch of wack-jobs, it still bothers me that they feel the need to push their hatred on all of us.

These are the morons that protest at the funerals of soldiers.

They hold up their hateful signs and shout their venom-filled propaganda at the funerals of brave men and women who died defending their right to protest.  They harrass the families of those soldiers.  And it’s all because they believe that God placed them on this Earth to inform all of us about how God feels about homosexuals.

I don’t know what version of the bible they read, but the God that I believe in is forgiving and benevolent and good.  God doesn’t profess or condone hate … and God certainly did NOT send a pink “while you were out” memo to Fred saying, “Hey, dude … tell the world that I don’t like ‘Fags!”"

If the Westboro Baptist Church took all of the energy that they put into their campaign of hate and actually did something worthwhile with it, they could make a difference in the world.  But, instead, they waste time and energy taking their hatred across the country.  They are so closed-minded that they don’t realize that they look like idiots … and that the rest of us look at them with disdain.

I COULD hate them … I COULD spend energy shouting back at them … I choose to look at them for what they really are.  They are pathetic, empty shells.  I can only pity people who live a life filled with that much hate.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

Regardless of whether or not there are morons at the show tonight … I’m gonna have a GREAT time with my friends and enjoy an awesome show!

Ya’ll have a GREAT weekend … and check back on Monday for pictures from the show!

We have had such a busy 3 weeks … it’s kind of a relief to have “nothing” to do.

We had a blast with our cruise buddy Diana … even though her vacay started with an unexpected 5 hour layover in Dallas and the weather sucked the ENTIRE time she was here!  Everyone was so excited to see her – hopefully next time her man Anthony can come with her to visit.  Here’s just a few pix from her visit:

I already miss her, but at least we’ll get to party with her again on the cruise in November!

Back on Monday with more photo fun!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Okay … it’s time to snap out of it.

I’m still in my funk over losing my Ollie-bug.  I miss him so much and I’m finding it difficult to just get through the day-to-day crap that I have to accomplish.  Who would have ever thought that a 5 pound Pomeranian could have such an impact on me!  I need something to distract me for a few days … and that something will come in the form of my cruise buddy Diana!

Yeah, baby!!!  I am picking up Dirty D from the airport at 5:30 today … and then she will get to experience the wonder and magic that is DOODAH!  I can’t wait to see her!

And I already have the pinata loaded up for tomorrow – the 2nd annual Kurt-a-Palooza at Casa de Sunny y Tallboy!  I have a case of Coors Light for Kurt and a gigantic bottle of Jack for Shane and every single flavor of vodka that exists … plus pancake-wrapped sausages on a stick AND more bacon than any 15 party people can manage to eat.  (Yes, it’s a party with breakfast food – Kurt’s fave - and grown-ups in their PJs … we’re really mature.)

So, I’d better git and get ready for the arrival of the biggest personality you’ll ever find in a petite lil package!

Check here on Tuesday for the pictures from the visit from Diana and the Panda … and ”Bacon-pocalypse”.

And remember to fly your American flags proudly this weekend!

Happy Independence Day!

Yesterday, Scott and I said goodbye to our wonderful little dog Oliver.  And I know it’s strange to say right now, but it’s times like this that make me realize how lucky I truly am.  We had 9 terrific years with Oliver.  He made us laugh more times than I can count … he gave us snuggles when we needed them most … and he showed us how much people can love.

Thank you so much to my dear friend Jenny for being there when we said goodbye.  Thank you to Dr. Gary and the staff at Heartland Animal Hospital for taking such good care of Oliver.  Thank you to Shanda and Victor for drinking vino last night and laughing with us when we REALLY needed to laugh.  Thank you to Kurt and to Lisa for just calling to check on me and Scott.  Thank you to all of our wonderful friends for their love and support through this difficult time.

And thank you to our friends Patty and Sean for trusting us to take care of their little Ollie-bug … and for telling us that no one else was good enough for him.  You gave us some of the best memories of our life, by giving us Oliver.

I love you, little Bug-Bug.

June 26th is my happiest day of the year … because that is the day that my wonderful husband was born!

This past Saturday, on his birthday, he amazed me with his calm and cool reaction to near-disaster in our house.  It was the hottest day of the year (so far) and we were expecting out-of-town guests in the afternoon … and right around 11am we noticed it was getting really warm in the house.  Further investigation found our air-conditioner NOT WORKING!!  I freaked out and started trying to think of alternative places to lodge our guests and our elderly dogs … Scott remained calm, tried to fix it, and when he found he was unable to repair the AC, he called a dude.  Two hours and $700 later, the house was a comfy 74 degrees again … and the Tallboy was ready for a beer!

Our wonderful friends Jenny and Vic opened up their home to all of our friends and made a delish birthday feast for everyone … and the Tall one ended up having an excellent birthday!

Here’s the pics!

Those are the photos that are family friendly enough for the blog, anyway!  Now, THIS weekend we have our cruise buddy Diana flyin’ in from out East for the 2nd annual Kurt-a-Palooza pajama party!  I’ll have a few pics of that fiasco for you on Monday!

Have an awesome day!

So, we got to go to Michael Buble’s sound-check on my Mom’s birthday … it was so cool!  The only bummer was that no one was allowed to take any pictures during the sound-check AND we were only allowed to take ONE picture with him … and it had to be a GROUP picture.  That sucks.  But, the show was great and Mom had a good time.  That’s what is most important!  Here’s the pics …

Please to enjoy …

I’m so glad my mom was able to make it down here to DooDah to go to the show … and that I was able to get her and Patty and Jaden in to meet him!  What a great night out with the girls!

Tomorrow … check back for pictures from the Tallboy’s birthday last weekend!  Yeah … it’s birthday month in our house!

It’s not very often that I get to surprise my Mom with something really cool … but today is one of those rare occasions.  And I know it’s safe to blog about it because my mother does not read my blog (can you believe that???  I think she’s afraid of what she might find out about her daughter!).

As you probably know, tonight is the Michael Buble show at Intrust Bank Arena.  As soon as I heard about it, I called my mom and informed her that she was going to have to come to Wichita for her birthday to go to the show.  She was really excited – and I was too.  It’s not often that I get tickets to a show she would want to attend!

I told her the truth yesterday when we picked her up at the airport … our seats for the concert suck.  We’re as far back as you can go in the stadium, which is a bummer.  BUT, the boss gave me the hook-up and I get to surprise my Mom today by taking her to the sound-check party!  So, even though our seats aren’t the greatest, Mom will still get to see Michael up-close and personal.

SSSSHHHHHHHHHH!  Don’t tell her … it’s still a surprise, for now … until I crack.

I’ll have some pics for you on Monday.  Until then, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my mom and to my wonderful husband the Tallboy (on Saturday).

xoxoxo
